Another top night at Amboise :) but weather still letting us down as cloudy again :( We lost the fridge as we haven’t moved for a while – must get a solar trickle charger when we get back!!! We wanted to see the Chateau built over the River Cher Chenonceaux so after spending 66 euro’s in the Amboise Le Clerc and another 67 diesel!!!! we are never going to fund our lifestyle when we give up childminding in September !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we drove into the Chateau car park and every tourist in the area was there :( and it was going to cost us another 20 euro’s walk round and as we did two houses yesterday we drove up the road and parked by a bridge just a half mile from the Chateau . We tried walking the right hand bank first but couldn’t get there so after a picnic lunch of rotisserie chicken and I had a fish and caught the smallest mirror carp I have ever seen we tried walking the cycle path on the left. We couldn’t believe our luck when the path went right to the Chateau and actually passed under one of it’s arches close to it’s draw bridge!!! I was able to get some nice pics and it didn’t cost us a penny :) Then back to the van for tea and apricot tart, watch a local fisherman reverse his boat down along slip way before heading south.
I think it is supposed to be windy in Gruissan Thurs/Fri so we need to be a lot closer!!! So after about four hours driving past Limoges and Brive we ended up right on the banks of the Dordogne at the canoe hire at Copeyre where I tried my hand at fishing – I had got some maggots from the supermarket – but with no luck :( but it is a great spot surrounded by cliffs with a heron and loads swallows, we had pasta sitting outside as the sun set and it’s very warm too!!!!
